Winning the game of
life takes real guts, hard work and wisdom, not luck, hand-outs or
foolishness. To win one must be committed to the task and focused
on the finish line. So, how does one win at the game of life?
First, start early,
and take the home field advantage. Too many people become serious
about the things that should have mattered much earlier in life;
however, life is never too late to start winning. Then, there are
too many who try to play the game of life on some one else’s field.
In other words they look at others and mimic what they perceive as
success instead of using their own God given gifts and talents.
I believe there are
four critical elements that make up a winning plan for anyone’s
life. First, you need unlimited resources at your disposal.
Second, you need access to the top. Third, you need supernatural
wisdom and knowledge. Finally, you need to surround yourself among
winners, not losers.
God has an economic
stimulus plan that exceeds anything a Republican or Democrat could
ever touch. In fact, God’s plan is so fool-proof that He challenges
any person to prove Him wrong. The winning plan requires each
person to begin tithing to their local Church (Malachi 3:9-11). “Bring
ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in
mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I
will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a
blessing, that there shall not be room enough to
receive it.”
The
next part of the plan is gain access to the top. How much time do
we waste dealing with lower management and floor staff trying to
resolve conflict? The secret is go to the top with the matter.
When you develop a consistent prayer life, you must realize that you
are communicating with the top… God Almighty! No manager, CEO or
President can settle, change, console nor enlighten in a lifetime
what God can do in moments. A winning plan requires round the clock
access to our Heavenly Father through prayer (Romans 8:26-28).
What
to do, how to do, where to do and when to do can all become crystal
clear through the wisdom and knowledge of God’s Word. Without the
wisdom of God’s Word you cannot afford to make life changing
decisions. Knowledge is the value of pursuit, acquisition and
education, wisdom is the application of the sum thereof; knowledge
and wisdom will always produce success (Colossians 3:16).
“Birds of a feather
(often) flock together”. Winning people need to surround themselves
around other winning people. Think about it. What kind of wisdom
and knowledge can be extracted from losing people? The fact is,
success often breeds success. The institution of the Church is the
place where winning people should congregate on a weekly basis.
Those who are saved, committed to the local church, and devoted to
the study of God’s Word are the winners with whom you want to
associate. The final mark of a winning plan is to make a commitment
to be active in a local Church that teaches and preaches from the
Bible, evangelizes, allows for Praise and Worship and offers
opportunities to fellowship with others (Hebrews 10:24).
However, before you
can win at life, you must win at death by defeating the curse of
eternal damnation. Good people with good works are disqualified
from this race. To participate you must first accept Jesus Christ
as your personal Savior (Romans 10:9-10; John 9:31).
